“Port of Trelleborg and its partners” Challenges, solutions and visions

The Gateway Trelleborg started over 100 years ago with post traffic between Trelleborg and Sassnitz. During all these years there has been a steady growth of the fright traffic via Trelleborg. Today Trelleborg is the largest Ro-Ro port in Scandinavia. The Town of Trelleborg and the management of the port has decided to take the first step in accordance the expansion strategy to meet the future demand for transport capacity.

Do we need a larger Port in the perspective of the investments in the transport route via Denmark and the investment in a bridge over Fermarn Belt. The opinion of the Port of Trelleborg is that there is a need of both routes to meet the today’s need of capacity and the future still higher need for capacity.

Will a two way strategy be of real importance for freight transport between Scandinavia and continental Europe, this is one of the topic that will be discussed.
